AcroDance is a fusion of the fluid movements of dance and the difficult tricks of acrobatics. Classes focus on flexibility, strength, contortionism, as well as a combination of modern, contemporary and jazz dance. The AcroDance IV class is for students who have mastered beginning tumbling skills such as forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, one handed cartwheels, bridges/ bridge walking, and bridge recovery against the wall. Students have mastered unassisted backbends and bridge kickovers. Students demonstrate ability to kick into handstand, land in bridge and stand up without assistance. Students demonstrate flexibility in splits and bridge work. Students can learn short dance combinations and routines and perform independently. 

Students in Acro IV will continue to learn new dance skills and combinations in the modern, contemporary, and jazz genres. Acrobatic progression will focus on unassisted backbend kickovers, back walkovers, handstand to bridge recovery, standing bridge recovery (unassisted), elbow stands, and beginner partner tricks. Students will begin learning side aerial drills midway through the dance year. **Teacher approval needed to join this class. 

Dress Code: Girls: Solid color Black Leotard, Black dance leggings, or tan footless tights need to be worn with the Leotard. Hair in a Low ponytail or braid. Boys: Black gymnastics shorts, dance pants or form fitting athletic pants, Solid white or Black form fitting  T-shirt.

All dancers need to be Barefoot – no shoes or socks permitted. No jewelry of any kind. Bring a water bottle labeled with the dancer’s name. Please see the Dress Code requirements here.

Loose shorts or t-shirts are not permitted – they may catch on the equipment and impede movement.
